                                                       Design for animation
    Future kitchen design

One of the assignments for DANI was  make a futuristic kitchen based off a show style, I chose the original Samurai Jack, Not an easy task as the original SJ seasons were done entirely traditionally, and masterfully at that, But i did get the shapes and styles of the original show well enough. with the crooked faucet and the lights hanging down being my favourites.

Best of LAP 3022

Flash was hard at first, but by the end of the quarter I really got the hang of it.

"Made using pre posed scene by instructor" Not as good as my second animation. The constantly changing outer stroke on the brain cost me some marks. But I like how well I did on the subtle squash and stretch at the end.
Bests work from CA2222

Mime acting: Did a good job of keeping on model, though Norm said I could of kept his arm in a holding position for longer, (The hand stops midway in order to cycle as a loop in quicktime)

Personality walk: Norm's only real critique was the head bobbing movement and the little arm jab motion, which I agree with.

Finished life drawing... for now...

Made in Clip studio paint in around 15 mins

We are finally done with life drawing classes, I'm not sure if I should be happy, confident, or scared.
Though the way Tina and Elizabyth teach is great for more experienced artists, however for some like me. I find a good lecture followed by practice better then a short 5 minute rundown of what we're supposed to be doing, and then we try to do it with trail an error for a year in order to improve.

Now, that IS an oversimplification and a very mean sounding one at that, but after watching videos and reading up on the theories and aspects of line, force, and proper gesture. It was all so much more clear to me what I was supposedly trying to do in those classes, but it wasn't conveyed in a way the caught my attention and really relayed the ideas we were learning like a lecture from Sean or Norm would.

But still practice is just as, if not more important then just knowledge, and those classes certainly gave us the experience of drawing from life. It got my foot in the door to traditional drawing and I also learned how to read a model's pose and to measure negative space.

In short, the classes were great, but I wish that part of the course had a little more meat if that makes any sense. Anyways i'm going to keep practicing life drawing and drawing anatomy.. and i'm never gonna stop.

CD4210: Robot Design

My first sketch for my robot design was very organic, though it was unique it didn't have the necessary look and function of a "robot"

In CD we are taught to take things from nature for reference and inspiration for our designs
I took inspiration from my favourite animal Badgers.

The aspects that I got hung up on the most were the head and legs, it kept looking like a cyborg and the surface detail was too busy. However with input from Sean I was able to really pull through on the final design.

The finished design with the right amount of organic and mechanical aspects that hint towards its intended function.

Sketch update

been a whiles since I posted, the reason being the original sketch a day thing didn't pan out as normal, I was trying to hard to produce good drawings rather then trying to BE more confident at drawing. and after going through 2 of those books and onto a third one now, I can say I have improved.

SBB post #2

First time in a long time drawing a male face, you can tell by the shape of the eyes which are totally kuvshinov inspired.

I wasn't to flesh out my personal project by working on its male cast, this requires me to practice drawing male characters which I'm not as experienced at drawing as females... what? I grew up playing Metroid, and Perfect Dark, watching Totaly Spies and Sailor Moon, I'm not ashamed of my childhood influences.

My personality walk with slip chart, This was a fun assignment for me as I broke down and studied a past students work, which had a head tilt, By acting it out I realized that the head tilts to that the side the foot is front on.
